I attended an event last week organised by The Community Foundation for Merseyside to promote its Cultural Legacy Fund. Music to my ears. Inspirational. ![]()

It's been an terrific football season for the region's top teams, and the drama is showing no sign of slowing down, if the last few day's action is anything to go by.
Not since the mid-90s has the season concluded with all three Merseyside clubs having something to play for and an exciting finale awaits the fans of Liverpool, Everton and Tranmere. ![]()

So this week it was the turn of The Lakes to get the www.englandsnorthwest.com tourist plug in the weekend papers. The advertising output from England's North West (ENW) is high quality - if I didn't live here I would be sure to visit. But where would I go? Manchester, Liverpool, Cheshire, Cumbria or Lancashire? All very appealing, quite different in character and all under the big ENW banner. ![]()

I had a quick look at the home of the new Liverpool logo www.liverpoolcitybrand.co.uk a few minutes ago to get a feel for how the new artwork is being received. It's a bit embarrassing that only 80 odd people 'allegedly' speak for Liverpool and all the more so because most of them seem to be illiterate.
Since only 30 odd quotes appear in the site's A-Z can we assume that the other 50 were deemed unsuitable for publication? Here's a taster to whet your appetite... "Cause no other city can be so diverse than this city, and the people bring it together always and the logo is amazin" sic ![]()

I note that the excellent Visit Liverpool ad has become an almost permanent feature in the Saturday Telegraph magazine. It does strike me as strange that the new Liverpool city brand logo is not being used on the ad though – especially since we have been told how critically important its evolution was be to the city’s promotion. ![]()

The exhibition runs until May 4, but for a chance to take part in the voting for the 'People's Choice', you'll need to cast your vote before April 21st! For further details about the exhibition, and the shortlisted artists, visit www.liverpoolartprize.com. ![]()

I went to see a performance of Les Miserables by Shrewsbury Sixth Form College last weekend. It was a life-changing event. I have always detested amdram work and steered a wide berth, but this was an incredible performance by a talented group of amateurs.
As a consequence, I now have to consider an even wider range of culture than I did last Friday. I wonder how many others, like myself, have irrationally ignored such events. All I need to know now is where to find out what’s going on at the grass roots level around Liverpool. ![]()

The sun is shining on Liverpool's revitalised city centre. Towers soaring into the sky, scantily clad fashionistas drifting off to Aintree, tourists milling around the dockside, thousands thronging Liverpool One, barges gliding along the new canal link, the new Museum already looking dramatic on the waterfront (thanks goodness it's not the cloud), our fab Arena and Conference Centre making the MEN look tatty – and so the list goes on. ![]()

The sparky new creative logo is with us, and the first application I have seen appears on a Shanghai Connect sponsorship document. ![]()
