The eighth Liverpool International Tennis tournament takes place at Calderstones park this week. Amongst the competing players is Robin Soderling, the man who recently ended Rafael Nadal's unbeaten run in the French Open.
Scheduled to run over five days, rain unfortunately forced yesterday's action to end almost before it had begun. Today's forecast is more promising, and the future is even brighter still for sports fans in the region. ![]()

Good article in the Daily Telegraph yesterday showing the impact of Liverpool One on visitor numbers. The city is bucking the trend with footfall up 18% – impressive when considering most other destinations have seen a year on year decline of 6% or more. ![]()

Just a quick congratulatory note to those who brought us the Arena. There were many early snipes from those who said it was too small to attract the stars, that it was too close to established Manchester venues etc.
Those doom mongers appear to have been proved wrong. ![]()

Can I congratulate Liverpool City Council on the dramatic improvement in the cleanliness of streets around Ropewalks – subject regrettably to the occasional blip (see above!) ![]()

Whilst it's lovely to have the sun on our backs there is a downside. Those 08 banners dotted around high profile sites in the city are starting to fade to grey. ![]()
